"Education is the biggest and most valuable asset to serve the society…" with these golden words Hon'ble Justice Dr. Shekher Dhawan, sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court inaugurated the 7th RCL National Moot Court Competition at Rayat College of Law on 25-March, 2017. It was a two days competition where 24 teams including National law schools across the nation competed against each other. The Chief Guest, accompanied by judicial officers of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar including Mr. Munish Singal Additional District and Sessions Judge, Ms. Rupinderjit Chahal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Ms. Jatinder Kaur, District Judge Family Court graced the occasion with their benign presence.
The final day of the mega event began with the two laborious and gruelling sessions with persistent questioning and detailed analysis of law. After two long days of strenuous rounds, the top 2 teams move on to the final rounds. The Bench for the finals comprised of Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Chief Judicial Magistrate, S.B.S. Nagar and Mr. Ajit Pal Singh, Secretary D.L.S.A., Rupnagar. Standard of questioning was as rigorous as that of an actual court room setting and the round ended with a few words of advice from the judges. The Chief Guest, Mr. Balvinder Singh Sandhu, District and Sessions Judge, Rupnagar graced the formal valedictory ceremony. Everyone waited for the much anticipated prize distribution and the team of UILS, Panjab University were declared winners of the competition and Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar came in a close second. The Best Speaker was awarded to two participants Kuber Mahajan and Rishabh Karan Mehta both from Delhi Metropolitan Education, Noida and Best Memorial went to the team from UPES, Dehradun. Campus Director thanked and congratulated the faculty and students for organizing such a successful and grand event.
